Respiratory problems in sport and exercise

From a sporting background, with wonderfully active children of my own, I have a passion for keeping my patients moving towards their own individual physiological and motivational limits. From the asthmatic who has to use a pump at every break time, to the elite athlete who hits an unexpected wall in training, I can help you find a way forward. This may be as simple as optimising asthma treatment, perhaps treating unrecognised conditions that complicate the picture, or it may require a complex multidisciplinary approach comprising medication change, airway assessment, exercise testing, specialist physiotherapy, and occasionally a review of the way that you and your child think about exercise.

Accurate respiratory diagnosis and treatment

Respiratory paediatrics is both incredibly complex and beautifully simple. Nationally recognised specialist expertise allows me to spot patterns that have previously been missed. I'll ask you the right questions, listen to and digest your answers, and come to a diagnosis and treatment plan that you and your child can understand and get behind. I won't send tests without a specific question in mind and without considering the risks and benefits for your child. I won't start or increase treatment without clarity on what and why I'm treating. I'll admit if I'm wrong.
